Education Reform Needs To Put 'Children Before Politics'

Yesterday, the Assembly Minority Conference launched a new website – “Children Before Politics” – which provides insights and information about how we can fix what’s wrong in our education system, and allow kids across New York State to have a better educational experience.
Providing high-quality education is the most important thing we can do to prepare our kids for a successful future. The failed implementation of the Common Core testing standards highlights the need for immediate, comprehensive and effective reform of the state education system.
Members of the Assembly Minority Conference have talked to thousands of parents, teachers, students and administrators about the critical needs seen in our schools.  We visited every corner of the state to have face-to-face discussions with the people impacted the most by Common Core. As Leader of the Conference, I’m proud to say we heard you – and we took action.
Please enjoy the website, look at our education proposals and sign the petition to let lawmakers know that they can’t keep failing our children. Together, we can make a difference. The future of our children and of New York State depend on it.
