Microstamping Mandate Will Cost Jobs, Hurt New York’s Economy, Drive Up Costs For Gun Owners

June 19, 2012

“Today, the Assembly is expected to take up legislation – Assembly Bill A.1157-B – that would impose a microstamping mandate. Microstamping is an unproven technology that will cost more private sector jobs, hurt New York’s economy and significantly drive up the cost of owning a firearm. This microstamping mandate is a stark reminder of the ‘Albany knows best mentality’ that has put our economy at a competitive disadvantage. Firearm manufacturers like Remington Arms have publicly and repeatedly stated if microstamping becomes law, they will leave New York and take thousands of good-paying jobs with them. I oppose this microstamping mandate and so should anyone who wants more jobs, a stronger economy and fewer government mandates.”
