Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C-Canandaigua) is encouraging the community to participate in two programs dedicated to showing kindness and gratitude to veterans and military personnel during the holiday season.
“The Stockings for Veterans program aims to provide 1,200 veterans receiving outpatient treatment at the local VA hospital a holiday stocking filled with unwrapped gifts, and the Holiday Troop Drive will collect nonperishable items to be sent to military personnel deployed overseas,” said Leader Kolb. “Both programs will have a huge impact on the holiday season for our local veterans and deployed military personal. A little can go a long way to demonstrate your respect and appreciation for the sacrifices they’ve made.”
The Stockings for Veterans program gives local veterans who may not live close to family and friends something to look forward to during the holidays. Most Troops often deployed for months at a time, aren’t able to spend the holidays with their families or enjoy the comforts of home, something many of us take for granted. Through the Holiday Troop Drive, sending these men and women a simple deck of playing cards or a greeting card reminds them that we are thankful for their service and lifts their spirits while they are away from home.
Here is a list of the requested items for both programs:
- Hairbrush/Comb Sets
- Assorted Toiletry Items
